Manchester City appear to have made a decision over pursuing a deal for Declan Rice this summer.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Premier League champions want to sign two more players after securing the signature of striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

There have been suggestions that City could buy Haaland and Rice in the same transfer window but that does not appear at all likely, per the new report.

Indeed, the Telegraph claims that City’s top target in central midfield is Kalvin Phillips of Leeds United.

Phillips would be a much cheaper option than Rice, who would cost in excess of £120m if a club were to make a formal offer this summer.

Declan is instead set to stay at the Hammers this summer, having reached an agreement with the Irons over his future.

He could well leave the club at the end of next season, but the Irons will continue to try to tie him down to a new deal.
