Mario takes a swing at Hammer fans

There’s daft comments …ill considered comments and then there’s those that are downright unnecesary.

And that’s definitely the case with Joao Mario who was brought to West Ham by David Moyes last season and made very little impact.

Now he seems to be suggesting that may be in part due to a lack of warmth from the Irons fans.

The 26 year old midfielder arrived in the east end from Inter Milan for the second half of last season after making it clear he wasn’t at all happy in Italy.

On his return he again had plenty to say about life at Inter and was again looking for a move away from the club.

But now back in favour he has taken a swipe  at the Hammers fans in a silly and unnecessary outburst.

“I have to respect a team like Inter who spent so much to sign me, and I’m very happy to have been given a second chance here,” he told reporters.

“The Inter fans were also crucial. For them I was both an idol and a bad player. It would be great if I found the right balance.

“I’ve been in England and they’re all too quiet there. I prefer the warmth of our fans.”
