Marko sell-on clause details revealed

Sources close to Stoke City claim that the sell-on clause relating to Marko Arnautovic is not as generous as first thought.

The Stoke insider contacting Claret and Hugh by email says the twenty per cent sell-on clause is limited to any profit made by West Ham on the sale of Arnauotvic and not on the full sale price by the Hammers as first thought.

West Ham is thought to have paid almost £21m for the 29-year-old striker in instalments so a sale of Marko for £31m to China would bring them just £10m profit. Stoke’s cut of that would be £2m.

Should the Austrian striker be sold for £40m then Stoke’s cut increases to £3.8m of the £21m profit.

It is believed that any money raised by the potential sale of Arnautovic less sell on and agent fees will be made available to Manuel Pellegrini to immediately re-invest in another striker.
