Marlon Santos update

Spanish media are reporting that the Marlon Santos transfer is a done deal this morning. AS SPORT say Barcelona FC have accepted a bid from West Ham United of €15m (£13m) for the 22-year-old Brazilian Centre Back.

Another Spanish report from Mundodeportivo.com says the fee could rise to €18million (£15.7million) in the future and that Marlon has been offered a five-year contract by the Hammers. They say Barcelona CEO Òscar Grau and the player’s agent are ironing out final details including whether the Spanish giant will have a buy-back clause.

Claret and Hugh understand while the first transfer under Manuel Pellegrini certainly looks promising the deal could take up to two weeks to complete. The player will need to agree on personal terms and pass a medical and he will also need a work permit to play in the Premier League.

Leicester City is also said to be interested in the young defender so we shouldn’t be celebrating the first signing of the summer just yet before Marlon puts pen to paper.
