Massive broadcast deal offers financial lifeline

The Women’s Super League has landed a massive TV broadcast contract, the biggest in the world of ladies football.

From next season, two games will be on Sky every round with one on the BBC, while those matches not picked up by the broadcasters will be available to watch on the FA Player.

The deal with Sky Sport and BBC is worth £8m per season for three years. Women’s Super League teams will receive 75% of the share for clubs, with Championship teams set to benefit from a 25% stake.

Each WSL club including West Ham will receive around £500,000 per season from the deal.

To receive the new TV money from next season West Ham must first avoid relegation from the Women’s Super League.

They sit in the last place in the league table just one point away from Bristol City and Aston Villa and 3 points from 9th place Birmingham City.

Only the last place is relegated, with six fixtures remaining the West Ham women are fighting for their elite league status!.
