The mystery of missing Arthur Masuaku has been solved by ClaretandHugh this evening

Earlier today we asked whether the 27-year-old had succumbed to Covid, sustained a fresh injury or just didn’t fancy the 9,200 miles round trip in Africa.

But tonight – after making a number of enquiries among various contacts – we can reveal that independent sources have confirmed to us that Arthur took the decision to have a recent slight injury dealt with in the UK rather than travel miles into Africa.

They categorically denied that he had tested positive for covid and that they  believed he had made a  very sensible decision to stay at home rather than risk aggravating the problem via making thousands of air miles.

Saturday’s game was played in Martyrs of Pentecost Stadium in the town of Lingwala in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo some 4050 miles away from London

DR Congo are due to play another match n The Estádio 11 de Novembro stadium in Talatona, Angola on Tuesday which is another 550 miles away from Congo.

The left sided player returned from international duty in September after suffering a slight knock on his knee in training but this  is not expected to keep him out of contention of the Sheffield United game next weekend when the Premier League returns from its break.
