Mikey missing

Before I had done too much thinking before rushing out this morning I hadn’t really considered Mikey Antonio’s remarks re Zoumargate as closely as I should have done.

He argued that the domestic pet incident could hardly be compared to racism which naturally is subject close to most people’s hearts and gets more attention than most others – rightly.

However, there’s a point to be made here because the fact is there has been far more done in the area of racism than any other.

No doubt I’ll get hammered for even pointing it out but taking the knee was used by many clubs before kick-off throughout the 2020–21 English soccer season, and this one.

We all understand and have sympathy for what Mikey said but with racism is at the centre of every game such a binary approach seems unnecessary.

We all become passionate about the things that are closest to our hearts but separate issues need to be judged separately.

So many issues…so many views. Let’s pause and reflect for a bit. The media feeding frenzy needs to end.
