Moncur’s “b…..k naked” training stunt

Whacky John Moncur has revealed why he arrived on the training pitch “absolutely b…..k naked” during his days at the club under Harry Redknapp.

ClaretandHugh blogger Moncs has always been the joker in the Irons pack and made his ‘bare it all’ appearance on one of the coldest days of the year.

He said: “I can’t remember the year but I know it was midwinter and bitterly cold with sleet coming down. I arrived a bit late and all the track suits had gone.

“Some of the guys had nicked two sets so I was pretty cheesed off and decided it was time for a protest. I stripped off and ran out onto the pitch and did a Jurgen Klinsmann through a puddle.

“The lads loved it of course but I was actually making a serious point and it wasn’t long before they found a track suit for me.”

On another occasion he decided to pour white paint over his head before trotting out for training explaining: “Look you really don’t expect to find a painter and decorator in the dressing room when you turn up for training so the point had to be made!

“That was how pathetic things often were at the club in those days.”
