More helping hands for Newcastle-bound Irons

Bournemouth took another hammering this afternoon with Man United seeing off Eddie Howe’s Cherries 5-2 and sending them into second bottom spot.

That came on top of the 4-1 defeat by Newcastle in midweek and sees Eddie Howe’s outfit looking in a poor position to beat the drop given an ever worsening goal difference – now standing at minus 27.

That’s nine worse than the Irons in 16th place with Villa third off bottom  –  three points and three goals worse off than us on minus 24.

Norwich meanwhile were beaten 1-0 at home by Brighton and now look totally dead and buries at the bottom on 21 points and a goal difference of minus 36.

Villa travel to Liverpool of all places tomorrow whilst Watford, two points behind the Irons, and two goals worse off than the Irons, meet Chelsea at 8.00 this evening (Sat).

Assuming Watford and Villa get beaten and the Hammers win, we would go six points clear of the bottom three which could well be worth seven with the advantageous goal difference.

Dangerous talk of course but we can hardly complain we aren’t getting a few favours done us in this relegation battle!!!!
