Talks were held as long ago as three months with West Ham when we understand the player’s advisors were keen to do a deal of around £40,000 a week personal terms with the player.
They also wanted to include triggers in the contract which would raise his basic by increments of between £10,000 – £15,000 per refused bid!
For example, his basic salary would rise to £60,000 if a £10 million bid came in and were turned down; £70,000 for a £15 million and so on.
Alleged arguments over various issues with the manager were never denied when we asked our own questions and thus we are now seemingly at a crossroads.
