McCann has the 24 year old on his winter window back burner should a move for Barnsley’s Mallik Wilks from fall through.
McCann had Samuelsen on loan when he was at Peterborough United and was well impressed with the playmaker over two spells, which saw the player appear 28 times for two goals.
The Hammers have loaned him out to FC Haugesund where McCann kept on eye on him as he scored seven times in 28 domestic and Europa League outings and was responsible for seven goals.
He had long been touted as the next big thing at the Hammers but failed to make a real first team breakthrough and should McCann move in it’s likely the Hammers will listen to offers from the Championship club this winter.
