Who he was supposed to buy and at what price though given that a mere £70 million was spent across the entire Premier League – an average of around £3 and a bit million per club – goodness only knows.
But what HE knows and has ADMITTED is that he has set himself some summer problems given how high he has set the bar on his buys and loan thus far.
The two Czech boys, Jarrod Bowen and Craig Dawson are as much proof as you need at how clever Moyes at his best can be when operating in the windows.
But it presents his own problems now and later and speaking to the Athletic he made it clear those high standards will be hard to top.
“But I’m going to have to keep looking because with the recruitment here, we need to keep getting more signings right.
“We’ve only really had a year of it now. There’ll be dips in it when it doesn’t go quite so well but I’m hoping that I can keep the levels up, and we’re not going to be a side that is always hovering around the bottom if I can help it.”
The message keeps being repeated and I guess it’s as well we all get it; David Moyes will not buy for buying’s sake – a striker would have been very handy and I continue to believe we could suffer for not getting one.
But I’m ready for him to prove me wrong by finding a solution to the issue although, looking at what we’ve got, I reckon it will take a Moyes miracle.
