David Moyes is confident that he has the squad required to keep challenging for Champions League football despite failing to buy a new player in the January transfer window.

The Hammers went into the window hoping to sign a striker and a central defender.

Of course, the Irons were unable to add anyone to the squad, while bids for the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha, and Darwin Nunez ultimately fell apart.

The Hammers are continuing to fight for Champions League qualification and are also in the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will play Southampton tomorrow night, and had a real go at the Carabao Cup, where they were knocked out in the quarter-finals after beating both Manchester City and Manchester United.

Moyes is confident that there is enough quality in the squad to see the Irons through the remainder of the season, pointing to the fact that there were a number of clubs who did not add at the turn of the year.

Speaking to reporters, as per the club’s official website, he said: “It’d be unfair to just mention us – lots of clubs didn’t buy players in January for different reasons. We were very serious in trying to bring players in, but for different reasons it didn’t happen.

“The squad I’ve had at the moment has done a brilliant job in the last two years and I have no reason to think they wouldn’t do a brilliant job in the final months of the season.”
