Manuel Lanzini could be out of West Ham’s clash with Brentford this weekend, David Moyes has said.

The Hammers midfielder took a significant knock during the car crash he was recently involved in.

Moyes has confirmed that the Argentina international is back in training but is moving ‘gingerly’ and may not be available for the encounter with Thomas Frank’s side.

Lanzini was not available to play against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final, which ended in a 1-1 draw, because he was suspended after being booked against Sevilla.

It remains to be seen if he is deemed fit enough to play against the Bees in what could turn out to be a key game in the battle for the top-four.

The Irons go into the game in sixth place in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Spurs, but Brentford have been in good form, winning three of their last four games, including an astonishing 4-1 thumping of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, as per Football.London, Moyes said: “We’re still hoping Lanzini can improve and be better. Still carrying a knock from car crash unfortunately. He’s been training but is ginger in everything he’s doing. We’re hopeful he’ll be much closer to playing.”
