Moyes didn’t expect low energy levels but says Manchester City can suffer from them too! Err pardon

David Moyes has admitted that he didn’t expect  energy levels to be as low as they were at Crystal Palace.

Amazingly he believes that it is true of all teams, even Manchester City which is a pretty extraordinary statement given Pep Guardiola’s side’s performance of level over the season.

Nor are they deep in the relegation zone and to be making such comparisons seems on the face of it to be ludicrous in the extreme.

It’s been said enough times now but beyond, who is Ok and relatively fit given his injury absences the team looks work out because they same players have been asked to do the business day in and day out.

We will watch with fascination when the team are announced tomorrow evening. Is he going the same way or will he decide to give some very tired players in a break.

Commenting in his pre-match pressure he declared: “Since the World Cup, our run of results has been much better. Recently, we have had a really good run but, obviously, the last week has been difficult with a couple of games that didn’t quite go our way.

But the players have been trying to get back to it.  A week ago, we had one of the best weeks we have had for a while, so we are just trying to build on that and continue that.

Our performance against Liverpool was good, but not so much against Palace. But overall, I have been pleased with how the players have been performing.

I didn’t expect the energy levels to be low [at Crystal Palace] on Saturday.

But I think there will be games where it happens. You see it in the best teams. Manchester City, they have a lot of games. They will have somewhere in their journey where their energy levels are low and not as good as they have been in the past.”
