Moyes explains the Lingard signing
The Hammers rarely do a loan deal without such an option and with just a year left on the 28 year old’s Old Trafford contract the Hammers would be hoping to see him arrive for around £10 million.
In some respects the loan is similar to the Tomas Soucek arrival – in that both players are internationals and Champions League players looking for fresh starts to their careers by an initial loan spell.
The difference is that Moyes believes he knows exactly what to expect from Lingard – a player whom he knows well from his days as United manager.
And talking to the media the Hammers boss made it crystal clear that he believes the player will have much to offer in a variety of positions.
He said: ” Jesse will give us more options, more attacking options as as he can play in probably nearly all the positions along the front line, he can play as a midfield player as well.
We’ve seen Yarmolenko come in and do okay for us at centre-forward. And I’ve always said that if I can look within my own group to find solutions I’ll try and do so.”
He said a striker arriving was unlikely adding: “All we are doing is focusing on the game on Sunday and trying to look at a way to try and get a result in that game.”
