David Moyes is having second thoughts over letting Issa Diop leave.

The Hammers have been in talks with Fulham over a deal for the centre-back.

The newly-promoted Cottagers have been told Diop will cost around £20m and progress was being made between the two clubs.

But sources have now confirmed to C&H that Moyes is minded to keep Diop around.

The defender fell down the pecking order last season and his contract is currently scheduled to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season but the Hammers have the option to extend it by a further year.

That option may now be triggered as Moyes looks to keep his back line together.

Nayef Aguerd has been signed in the summer window and the other options are Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna, who are both over 30, and Kurt Zouma.

Diop is younger than all of that quartet and it now appears that he may be staying at the club.

Another offer from Fulham has not been ruled out, however, and there is plenty of time left in the window for things to change.
