“I know James Ward-Prowse is a good footballer, an incredibly good set-piece taker and a really good lad by all accounts, but I plan to cause Southampton problems and worry about doing that.”
Moyes has set no points target
David Moyes has confirmed the Hammers are in good shape with no injury worries.
He explained there were a couple of illness issues ahead of the Southampton but was in confident mood as he faced the press in the pre-match press conference.
Putting a points target for survival on the record is tricky with so many clubs involved in the situation and Moyes has no intention of doing so at this stage.
All that matters is the three at stake on Sunday in a game which will be shown on Sky with the Hammers certainly showing improved home form over the last few games.
So now it’s all fingers crossed for a repeat of the fine victory over Forest with Moyes saying:
“We’ve got nine games in April and a lot of them at home, so it’ll take a lot from the players, and anything the supporters will hopefully add to the players’ effort.
“I think they’re ready, we’re in a good frame of mind and will pick up the points we need to not be at the bottom end of the table.
“Quite often teams have broken away and we’ve not had so many teams fighting it out, but there is very little difference between a lot of teams aside from the three or four outstanding teams.
“Getting wins at the start of the season can make a difference, but we didn’t and we paid the price and we’re trying to make up for that.”
