Moyes in transfer window reality check

David Moyes has repeated his mantra that he’s more interested in players he has at West Ham than those at other clubs.

The boss  claimed that to be his position when he arrived at the Hammers last time around and was being pushed, pressed and harried into making new signings.

It’s much the same this time around. He remains far more enthusiastic on the now rather than what might be!

Having survived relegation and now with his hand firmly on arrivals  and outgoings he seems keen to make the same point after being linked with the likes of Shane Duffy and Eberechi Eze.

It’s a reasonable position perhaps as with money so short allegedly he will presumably be pretty restricted in who he does manage to sign either permanently or on loan.

He was keen to make the point on returning from Scotland where the squad is claimed to have developed great fitness and a unity of purpose.

He is quoted in the Evening Standard as saying: “I’ve always been more interested in the players we’ve got than the ones who are at other clubs, so I think the improvements we made from the restart after lockdown were good.

“We’ve got some bright young players and some players who are improving, so if we can add to it, great, but as I’ve reiterated a few times, the owners spent a lot of money over a year ago, and I’m sure we don’t have that amount of money available to spend again.”
