Moyes keeping his fingers crossed

Dave Moyes may be tempted to press Aaron Cresswell into action tonight at Wembley but won’t made a decision until the last minute.

The left back is carrying a small back injury and is no better than fifty fifty but with resources so short the manager may be forced to take a chance.

Speaking ahead of the game with Spurs he said: ““I’m hoping Cresswell’s injury doesn’t keep him out because we’re pretty short in both full-back areas.

Until we have got both Sam Byram and Jose Fonte back we’re a bit short defensively.”

Having revealed that Reece Oxford has sprained his ankle. and “probably might not be fit for Thursday” he said: “That’sthat’s my first thought.

“The biggest thing is I don’t have many changes and I don’t have lots of players. I’ve got some forward players I could change around but I don’t have many players in other positions. I’m not carrying any more players.”

As explained elsewhere on the site Cresswell’s absence would probably see Arthur Masuaku drafted in to the defensive role on the left with Declan Rice probably joining Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna at central defence and Pablo Zabaleta on the right side.
