Moyes lets rip at PL

David Moyes insists that the Premier League fixture schedule is getting out of hand as the Hammers prepare to play three times in seven days.

The Irons will face Silkeborg in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and face Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford in the Premier League, before then facing FCSB in Europe again next week.

Of course, the Hammers were also featured in the Monday night football, playing Bournemouth, and Moyes cannot understand why the club’s game against the Cherries was moved, given that they had another game on Thursday.

Moyes admits that he and his players are struggling, as a result, and the Irons boss has let rip at the Premier League for the way they have scheduled the club’s fixtures.

Quoted by the Evening Standard, Moyes said: “Everybody is feeling really difficult.

“I thought it might have been easy to maybe put Leeds and Fulham on Monday night, that’s just one game I could think of off the top of my head.

“If that had been on Monday I don’t think anybody would have said anything different from West Ham and Bournemouth. Let’s be fair, we weren’t just talking about it a week before it happened, we actually tried doing something about it probably two months ago when we knew the scheduling.

“This week has become really difficult.”

The Hammers only need a point against Silkeborg to confirm their position as group winners, meaning that Moyes could field a second-string side next week against FCSB, easing some of the pressure.
