Moyes may again miss out on defensive targets

West Ham’s pursuit of James Tarkowski may prove to be entirely in vain.

We are learning from the Burnley that the 27-year-old may be cool on a move to the London Stadium regardless of whether the reported £27 million fee were to prove acceptable the Clarets.

There are entirely different stories emerging on the Hammers transfer window front at the moment with Tarkowski being named by the Telegraph as the No 1 target.

However, they are also credited with the news that we fancied Brentford winger Said Benrahma which almost certainly is not the case.

Although there are no names in the frame publicly we have been told that Moyes is desperate for a right-back – unsurprising given the performances of Johnson and Fredericks yesterday.

He is also keen to bring in a left-back but we understand he may have to continue with Aaron Cresswell until closer to the end of the window or even beyond.

With £27 million certainly available, fingers remain crossed that the club and manager will tie up important full-back decisions but time grows increasingly tight.
