Burnley look set to sign a long term replacement for wantaway James Tarkowski over the next few days leaving the way open perhaps for the Hammers to move in on their 28 year old former target before moving for Craig Dawson
Stoke City central defender Nathan Collins – who looks on his way to Turf Moor – was also on the Hammers radar but now seems close to a move to Sean Dyche’s outfit.
Moyes is on the record as declaring he often prefers more experienced central defenders which may see him going back in for Tarkowski.
Collins is a highly rated 20 year old and looks set to move in a £12 million deal after the Burnley boss Sean Dyche had a £4.5 million knocked back in the January window.
We understand Moyes had the player scouted but Burnley’s long term interest is likely to see the player join from the Potters.
Tarkowski has made it clear he wants a move when Burnley are ready to let him leave and with his contract coming to an end next season the Hammers boss may be tempted to  make new approaches.
However, with only a year left on his contract the Clarets will need to lower their price considerably from the £40 million they were after earlier
