David Moyes insists that Hammers fans have to remain patient as the Irons look to get their second win of the Premier League season this weekend.

The Irons take on Everton in what could be a huge game at the lower end of the table.

Indeed, the Hammers have only taken four points from their six games, as have the Toffees, although Frank Lampard’s side are yet to win a game.

Moyes, though, feels that the club has added genuine competition into the team in the summer, securing the signings of the likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, and Nayef Aguerd.

The Irons have been more successful in Europe, beating both Viborg and Silkeborg thus far, and the Hammers boss hopes that those wins can spark some confidence in the side.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, as per Football.London, he said, having been asked about competition in the squad: “That’s exactly what we have been after. We have not had that for the last couple of years, well certainly not as much. What we have always had is a great team spirit and a great group of lads who are committed and have done well.

“We do have stronger competition, but bringing in eight or nine players and trying to bed them in is not an easy thing to do. Now and again, one or two of them will hit the ground running, and others maybe not quite so, but I think the players we have brought in will make a difference.

“It just needs a bit of time to try and get them used to the Premier League and getting results. We are showing better signs in our performances against Tottenham and Chelsea, and hopefully the wins [in Europe] will help with confidence.”
