West Ham manager David Moyes was asked to comment on Said Benrahma’s impact during yesterday’s win at the London Stadium.

Benrahma was a 72nd-minute substitute although the manager had planned to bring him on at 60-minute mark but was forced to wait.

Benrahma had an interesting 22 minutes on the pitch setting up the Soucek goal getting his first assist for the Hammers, but also giving away a penalty which was so incredibly poor it was almost of back pass calibre!

Moyes played down praising Benrahma telling reporters ‘I hope you have seen Fornals and Bowen’s class as well in recent weeks so we have got really good competition in those positions’

He conceded that Benrahma is a really good player but said ‘I have had lots of players from the Championship that I don’t expect too much from too quickly, He had an impact in both boxes but thankfully it went well for us.’

Benrahma signed on a season-long loan from Brentford for a loan fee of £4.25m with an obligation to buy of £20.75m if certain criteria are met.

ClaretandHugh says: It’s the sign of a good player when, penalty apart, he can make such an impact during such a short period on the pitch. Beyond the two obvious moments in the game, he also made a dazzling run before, wrongly, trying to score at the crowded near post rather than cut back a cross. However there was enough on display from him to demonstrate that we have a quality player on our hands.
