Moyes sends ugly January message

David Moyes admits that West Ham have NO plan going into the January transfer window.

The Irons are currently struggling in the Premier League table and are 16th, just one point ahead of the relegation zone.

But the Hammers boss accepts that there is no desire to bring in any new players after a big spend in the summer, although it is a spend that has yet to show any return.

The Irons, per Transfermarkt, spent over £170m on new players, such as Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, and Thilo Kehrer.

And Moyes now admits that there simply isn’t a lot of money to spend on new players in January, not that he would want to even if the funds were there.

Speaking in an interview with TalkSPORT, Moyes was asked if Hammers fans could expect the club to spend in January, and replied: “Nah, I don’t think we will.

“Because I have to say the board did really well by us and spent a good amount of money in the summer, we brought in nine new players, which is more than anybody would want to do, really.

“But we needed it because we’ve got a European campaign again and because of the amount of games we played in the year before. Even this season I think we’ve played more games than any other Premier League team at this stage of the season, so we needed to add those players.

“But January will probably be a no, unless we need something through injury or someone comes available.

“But, in truth, I don’t see us doing much business, no.”

The Irons play Arsenal on Boxing Day.
