Moyes set for Irons interview as Everton watch on

David Moyes today left West Ham at the end of his short term contract but will be back as a candidate for the job permanently early next week.

However, should Sam Allardyce be sacked  from the Everton job which seems very likely there is a strong possibility  the Scot could be head hunted for a Goodison return thus scuppering any hopes the Hammers may have of keeping him at the London Stadium.

We understand from Everton sources that there has been keen interest in his exploits at the London Stadium where he has guided the Hammers to Premier League safety in very difficult circumstances.

In the meantime there are reports that he has been told by the board today that it is unlikely he will be getting the job although it has been confirmed to ClaretandHugh there has been no board meeting today.

We understand that David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady are set to clear their diaries for a meeting on Monday or Tuesday of next week when Moyes will be given the opportunity to stake his claim.

In the meantime interviews are being set up for Unai Emery and the club still hope that Rafa Benitez could be  ready to talk to them again.

Paulo Fonseca and Marco Silva are other live candidates although there are worries about Emery’s very poor English. Despite that he remains very much a candidate.

Moyes is reported in some places tonight as having already met with the board and told he is not in the frame but we have no confirmation of that at this stage.
