Moyes spots a big Anfield edge for the Irons

There will be no Kop passion – no “You’ll never walk Alone” and all the rest of it at Anfield tomorrow (Sat).

And David Moyes reckons that could make a difference to the Hammers chances. He should know after the years he spent in Liverpool as boss of Everton.

He may well have a big point and one that might even point to a reason for the often odd series of results we have been getting in the topsy-turvy season so far.

There has to be something entering players’ psyches when they walk out to empty stands and the sound of silence throughout the 90 minutes.

Football will always be a game of thin margins but a missing 60 thousand fans or so can be a very large one indeed and the West Ham boss’ observation is well made.

Ok, Klopp may have two or three hugely influential players missing but he will know the massive home support is probably as key to his team’s performance.

Moyes said: “Obviously you’d rather play Liverpool without Virgil Van Dijk.

But probably the biggest thing going up to play Liverpool is without supporters, their support makes such a difference, with no crowd behind them hopefully that might make a difference as well.”
