David Moyes has declared that he believes the Hammers has a good academy.

Despite there having been few youngsters breaking through under his management, the boss remains convinced that the grass roots of the club is fine.

Having admitted that money should not be the be all and end all in building a top club, the manager is clearly keen to develop the group.

Following the game against Viborg on Thursday he made his position clear he told reporters: “I think West Ham have got a good academy.”

But he added: Also, we’re not always shopping in Harrods, sometimes we shop in Aldi, if that is the right way to put it. I think that is part of it.

While we are always building the club, we will be looking to buy players at different levels and trying to challenge the big boys and because of that, we know we need to try and get some top players.”
