David Moyes has waded into the row over a potential director of football at West Ham.  The Hammers manager who has never worked under a Director of Football denied it was ever a  real possibility claiming it was always about a straight replacement for the former head of recruitment.

Moyes told reporters at Rush Green this afternoon “I think that everybody knows when we lost Tony (Henry) we were working to get a new head of recruitment in and that’s what we are doing at the present time. I don’t think it was ever about a director of football, we have only ever had a head of recruitment here so we are looking to replace him.”

David Sullivan promised supporters he would revamp the recruitment department over the summer but stopped short in describing who will lead the department. It is thought David Moyes himself wants to have the primary lead on all recruitment matters assisted by a head of recruitment.
