Moyesie had an impossible wish

Maybe we have been too honest for our own good.

Covid may well have been the worst thing most of us have lived through but as it but a few weeks ago there was little doubt the Hammers stayed true to themselves fielding a team whenever possible.

The same can’t be said of a few other teams and as a result we have fallen behind in terms of gaining a games in hand advantage unlike Spurs who have been heled to their three point lead over us with that possibly as a factor.

Alright I’m whinging but what with the Europa League commitment and squeezing games in whenever we could whilst others pleaded thin squads we have done ourselves a bit of a disservice.

The intensity of our games has been severer with the likes of Liverpool and Seville on the agenda and David Moyes has made it clear the international break could have done with coming earlier in our case.

He told www.whufc.com: “To come here (Spurs) after we beat Aston Villa on Sunday and we beat Sevilla on Thursday night, after 120 minutes… to play a team who are challenging and, with it being a derby game as well, for us to come into that sort of half-cooked, and not fully ready, was really difficult.

To be honest, I wish the international break had come a few days earlier.

Hopefully the players will come back ready for the final seven or eight weeks of the season, and we know we’ve got huge games.

We want to try to stay in the European places, and we want to continue our run in the Europa League if we can as well.”
