Moysie makes the promise we all needed to hear

David Moyes has uttered perhaps the most important words heard at West Ham over recent years.

Moysie has clearly been following the club very closely for a long time and is deeply aware of the problems that need sorting among the fans.

And his promise not to over promise as he believes they have been in the past is the primary objective of his purposes for the club.

Much has been made among the unhappy fans of the promises 0ver the London Stadium and reaching the new level and there is nothing to be done about that now but it’s great to hear the manager going in a direction  which may lift the complaints off the back of the club.

That may not be the case among the hard bitten critics but it’s very good to hear the manager making his points without any fear that he believes he might be saying the wrong thing.

“I still want to make sure I don’t over-promise the West Ham supporters because I think they’ve been over-promised,” Moyes told FourFourTwo.

“I want to be as straight as I can, I think we’ve got a really good team in the making at the moment. We’ve brought in some really good, exciting players and hopefully in the next couple of transfer windows we can add to that.

“I can’t build it and get it that good right away but I believe I can build it and get it good given a period of time. That’s not me as a manager asking for more time, that’s me being realistic.

“You can’t turn perceptions around of West Ham in one transfer window or two transfer windows.

“This is a massive oil tanker we’re turning around, or I hope we are, and we want to get it turned around and facing the right direction with everybody aboard.”
