It will come as no surprise to hear David Moyes declare that he has much trust in Pablo Fornals.

The Spaniard has become an essential part of the manager’s plans since he arrived for his second spell.

Energy, commitment and determination is the footnote of the boss’s managerial style and  that comes across loud and clear when he discusses the attacking midfielder.

It also explains why Said Benrahma and Manu Lanzini are struggling to nail down a regular place in the team.

Discussing the player with reporters Moysie said: “He is a player who we trust and we trust him because of his energy and commitment.

We’re in a period where we’ve got one or two players who are in dips or had ups and downs and we’re trying to manage them.

But we’re also trying to to make sure that we rotate enough that we are getting freshness into the team on the odd occasions.

We’ve not been making many changes but just enough that we can bring somebody in who could impact differently.

I am trying to do that as much as I can. Pablo has done really well for us, he’s done a couple of really good jobs for us as a team.

I think the last couple games he has upped his performance and sometimes being out of the team for a couple of games doesn’t do you any harm, it makes you realise ‘hey, I’m going to have to do things a bit better.”
