Masuaku – CandH man of the match

Hammers 0 Everton 0

We’d have take before the game and perfectly content with it now following a well organised and nerve-less performance from the boys.

Slaven Bilic was of course forced to make several changes with Andy Carroll, Mark Noble and  Sam Byram out leaving the likes of Ayew, Fernandes and Calleri with points to prove…and they did.

There was more energy and fluidity about the Hammers  who have looked predictable over recent games with Carroll in the lone striker role.

And whilst the Irons didn’t create great chances there was a real purpose about them and defensively Lukaku and friends weren’t even part of the script with the Irons bogeyman never being given a sniff.

Calleri led the line well for an hour before Diafra Sakho arrived for the last 30 minutes looking strong and eager. Whatever the injury was that had kept him out until Thursday when he apparently returned to training, it wasn’t a lot.

He looked fit and strong and this will have set him up for the match at Stoke next weekend who were beaten at Swansea and are currently on a run of one win from six games.

Man of the match unquestionably for me was Arthur Masuaku whose quick feet saw him producing some classy tricks before moving forward and setting up some decent Irons attacks.

James Collins gave a master class at the back and was constantly pushing and shoving team mates into threatening positions at set pieces – a real leader.

Lanzini too was on the case all afternoon and just needs to add some goal scoring to his game. Adrian returned and had next to nothing to do whilst the rest of the team made more than sufficient impact.

Good performance…good game with Irons the clear winners on points.
