Former Liverpool, Spurs and Fulham player Danny Murphy says West Ham season will improve this season but claims the midfield is not strong suggesting Mark Noble is nearing the end of his career.

Writing a column in the London Evening Standard Murphy says: “I know West Ham have had a very difficult start to the season, but I honestly think they will be OK. It is not easy when you have to play your first three league games on the road, as they had to do because the world athletics championships were being held at the London Stadium.

If you look at the squad, they have made themselves much better.

Marko Arnautovic has flair and can create chances and score goals from nothing. Joe Hart remains one of the best English goalkeepers. Perhaps the midfield is not as strong as it might be. Mark Noble is a fine player but he is coming towards the end, but I am confident they have enough to ensure a solid season.”
