Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has announced he intends to appoint Sir Peter Hendy CBE as the new Chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) which runs E20 Stadium LLP which owns the London Stadium with Newham.

In November last year the then LLDC Chairman David Edmonds resigned after a further £51m over spent was revealed which prompted the Mayor’s investigation into the London Stadium.

Sir Peter has more than 42 years’ experience of working in the transport and infrastructure sector in London. He has been Chair of Network Rail since 2015 – a position he will retain – and was previously Commissioner of Transport for London for nine years.

One of Sir Peter’s first priorities will be to assist LLDC in how it responds and takes forward the recommendations of the Mayor’s investigation into the finances of the London Stadium, which are expected later this year.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Sir Peter will bring unrivalled knowledge and experience to the role and I look forward to working closely with him to make the most of this opportunity to establish the Park as a world-class sporting and visitor attraction, as well as delivering jobs, growth and new communities fit for Londoners.”
