The Government has introduced what is being described as Plan B to combat the growing Omricon Covid 19 threat.

And as far as football is concerned it means that fans will be required to show proof of double vaccination or a negative test to attend sporting events with crowds of more than 10,000 people in England under new Covid-19 rules.

The rules will come into effect from Wednesday, 15 December and is seems clear that the game, along with the country at large, may be heading back into darker days.

Coming at the same time as Spurs have been hit by numerous covid cases within it is squad is a cause for concern across the game..

Access to any event in excess of 10,000 people in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already requires a Covid pass which and  as we reported earlier when reporting Plan B may happen – big hold ups at getting through the turnstiles can be expected.

It could also affect the numbers attending games again given that and the dangers some may perceive  from the apparent rapid spread of the new variant.

Johnson announced the rules during a news conference at Downing Street on Wednesday.

There are three Premier League games on 14 December, the day before the rules come into effect, with four top-flight games the following day when the rules begin.

The BBC reports the new rules will affect all 17 Premier League games scheduled between 15-19 December, with Brentford, Manchester City and Norwich – who all play on Tuesday – the only teams not to have a home game in this time.
