West Ham hold a two year option on Ben Johnson with the player due to come out of contract net year.

Johnson was outstanding in the game against Everton of course, notably as he has only appeared for one minute in a previous Premier League game at Newcastle in the opening match of the season.

Beyond that he has done well in games against Manchester United and Rapid Vienna as he bid to establish a place in the squad.

Ben is set to be offered an extension on his current deal and his versatility as either a right, left back or left sided wing back is a genuine asset to the team.

The Hammers also have to decide whether they will be offering 33 year old central defender and yesterday’s goalscorer Angelo Ognonna a new deal.

His form remains excellent and like Lukasz Fabianski this season it’s possible that he will be offered another year.
