David Moyes has re-opened the debate on what caused Patrice Evra to kick a Marseille fan in the head.

After the incident, Evra was fined €10,000 and banned from UEFA club matches for seven months. His club Marseille suspended him later terminating his contract by mutual consent.

At the time French newspaper L’equipe claimed the fan said to Evra: “Get out of Marseille, you’re bad! Go back to your videos and give up football’

Yesterday Moyes told reporters there was more to the incident than previously reported suggesting it was understandable. Asked whether he had any concerns over the fan incident Moyes replied “No, not from what he told me,”

He told me what happened, none at all. It shows that he will stand up for himself and won’t take anything. When he told me what the supporter said to him, I’d have had no complaints. No I wouldn’t. But I think when you heard what the supporter said, you can understand it more.”

Moyes refused to elaborate further what was said. Patrice Evra will be on the bench today at the London Stadium.
