Newcastle United could be about to re-enter talks to sign West Ham goalkeeper Adrian claims the Newcastle Chronicle today.

Rafa Benitez is understood to have identified the 30-year-old goalkeeper as a player who can challenge for the number 1 spot at St James’ Park next season.

And the Chronicle claims that sources in London have suggested that the Hammers are interested in taking Karl Darlow as part of a possible exchange deal or swap. Darlow was left out of Newcastle’s clash at Bradford in case he picked up an injury that would rule him out of any potential summer move, and Irishman Rob Elliot, whose nation is the subject of the St Patrick slots, is currently number one on Tyneside.

Darlow was the subject of an unsuccessful £5million bid from Middlesbrough earlier this month before they turned their attentions to Randolph.

Benitez recently said: “We have three keepers and we had to give them some time. we couldn’t leave one person on the bench, because after one week I think they all needed to play.”
