Nicholas is a proper Charlie

So called football pundit, Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports at the weekend that West Ham have a problem defensively.

Nicholas says he feels that West Ham don’t have the defensive reinforcements that some of their rivals for the European spots do, and they can look vulnerable at the back.

The former Gooner argued that James Tomkins’ inclusion at right back proves that West Ham are weak in defence, but he has not ruled out their chances of making it into the top four this season.

“The problem for me is still at the back,” he said. “They are still a bit vulnerable at the back, even though their goalkeeper is very good. Perhaps that is because of the injury situation, with James Tomkins having to play right back. There’s still a good feel about West Ham though. We will be talking about the top four for them soon.”

West Ham have let in just two goals in their last six matches and 23 across the whole season. Leicester City in second place have conceded more goals at 25 this season. We have conceded one goal less than Liverpool and two more than Man City. Don’t even even get me started on Chelsea who have shipped 29 this season. We have completed 7 clean sheets in 20 matches this season. We have not lost at the Boleyn Ground  since august when we lost to Bournemouth 4-3 and we have a positive goal difference of +7 for once.
