Everton are ready to pass up on the chance to sign Enner Valencia on a permanent deal claim the Liverpool Echo this afternoon.

Everton signed the 27-year-old on a season-long loan from the Hammers in August with the option of buying him in a transfer worth around £10million to the Irons.

The ECHO says that after weeks of talks, Everton is in the process of walking away from negotiations completely.

Ronald Koeman will have the final say on the deal and it is believed he wants the club to pursue other forward targets this summer. Valencia only made seven starts this season for the Toffees and came off the bench 16 times but would often make an impact, particularly at Goodison.

Koeman remains set on Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and has also talked up the possibility of moving for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who is likely to leave Old Trafford during the forthcoming transfer window.
