No more Irons excuses please – it must all change today

I have heard enough words of what’s wrong from the manager and his backroom team past and present – football is full of excuses when things go wrong – twas ever thus.

You will have to excuse the expression given CandH rules but nobody summed it up better than former Bristol City manager Danny Wilson after a defeat in a match I was covering years ago at Ashton Gate.

Asked by a reporter if this or that had happened it would have been a different result, Danny looked him straight in the eye and said: “Yeah and if my auntie was my uncle she’d have bollocks.”

That attitude of finding reason for defeats is one of the saddest aspects of football and at the end of the day it makes no difference at all from wherever it may come – this is. to use the cliche, a results business. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

So let’s hear no more about out of form players, injuries, poor VAR decisions, poor reffing generally, new players having to settle in and all the rest of it.

We need to see it as proper managers such as Danny did and tell it as it is. West Ham are playing poorly under a manager who so far has refused to change his game and if we are to beat Leicester City today something MUST CHANGE.

Ultimately Moyes is responsible for the team’s performance – how can it be otherwise!? He is the manager for crying out loud. If he isn’t responsible for the result what is his job?

If – as some argue – it’s the out of form players who are letting us down then it’s his job to change them from the start and during the game.

It’s why he was given over £160 million -in the summer to become the third biggest buying manager in the PL.

We need a quick start, we need goals and far, far more energy than has been on display so far this season.

We have suffered seven PL defeats in 14 games against the 14 we suffered in 38 we played last term.

Sorry it’s nothing like good enough and we need to see something very different today if we are not to suffer a month of serious anxiety.

And by the way my auntie doesn’t have b,,,,,ks!

Everything we have seen so far on the pitch at West Ham this season has to change today!
