Mark Noble’s injury could spark a return to the London Stadium for Josh Cullen.

The captain will have a scan on his injured ankle tomorrow (Mon) but even should the injury prove short term it demonstrates the danger of leaving the squad with only one holding midfield partner for Declan Rice.

Indeed the same situation would surround Rice himself were he to become injured.

Cullen was again part of the Charlton team in which he has been performing impressively this season against Millwall yesterday and from all accounts did well again despite the Addicks losing 2-1.

The decision surrounding Grady Diangana has now been made and he will be remaining at West Brom who again won yesterday to remain two points clear at the top of the Championship under Slaven Bilic.

However, the position is now nothing like as clear cut with young Josh and a source told us on the phone: “Obviously we are waiting to see the severity of Mark’s ankle problem but the clause is available in Josh’s loan deal to return should the manager decide he needs cover for the rest of the season.”
