Noble survival target poses a big question

We’re five wins away from survival.

At least that’s the assessment of captain Mark Noble who, sadly, has been in this position often enough to know probably required.

Deciding which of the remaining games will bring those wins, however, is a tricky business and it means that we need to win nearly half of them to stay up should Nobes be correct.

Speaking after the Anfield match the captain said:  “We need to get back to training and take all the positives from that game,” he said following the defeat at Anfield.

“The games are going to come thick and fast now and I think we need to try and win five of them.”

Southampton is the first we must be expecting to win this weekend and of course the match at Norwich on April 25 and those against Watford and Villa are two others.

Burnley is also seen as a possible but that is far from straightforward given a run of form which has seen them take four wins from their last six with wins against Leicester City and Manchester United along the way.

However, with three London derbies among the 12 and the team’s obvious ability to raise its game as demonstrated at Liverpool, I’ll go for a victory over Chelsea at home on April 5 as one where we can get a maximum.
