A former footballer who Mark Noble once mocked mercilessly was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence over a Mafia extortion racket earlier this year.
Fabrizio Miccoli was accused of turning to Mauro Lauricella, the son of well known Mafia boss Antonino, in the Kalsa district of Palermo to help recover a debt.
It is claimed that Miccolo was helping a friend who was owed was owed €20,000 (£17,000) in a dispute with a businessman from Sicily.
The money is said to have come from the sale of a night club in Isola delle Femmine
Five years ago the West Ham captain Mark Noble was caught by TV cameras mocking the 36-year-old last night, whilst facing off against each other in a UEFA Europa League qualifying match in Malta.
Nobes puffed out his cheeks to vent his frustration at an overweight Fabrizio Miccoli as Maltese minnows Birkirkara took them to the brink.
Miccoli in fact scored the only goal of a heated tie in which West Ham eventually came out on top via penalties, red-faced and by the skin of their teeth.
