West Ham will pick up just over €6m from the transfer of Pedro Obiang who has left the club  for Italian  outfit US Sassuolo.
The two clubs agreed a fee of €7 million for the midfielder but the Hammers had to pay a five per cent Fifa solidarity payment to Atletico Madrid who looked after the player as a youngster  and that worked out around €350k.
And we understand that the player was also due a further €500,00 of his  signing on fee which reduced the Hammers take out to just over €6 million.
However, that could rise to closer to the £7 million fee with add ons based on appearances.
Obiang and his wife  – whose wife is expecting a child – were desperate to move  to Italy and the Hammers were not ready to stand in his way despite him having three years left on his contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder spent four years in east London, joining the club in summer 2015 from fellow Serie A team Sampdoria.

He played 116 times in claret and blue, scoring three times – including the club’s goal of the season in 2017/18 with an unstoppable 30-yard drive against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
