Reece Oxford has remained in the UK so he can play for England.

The 17 year old missed the US tour to Seattle and North Carolina to represent his country in the European U19 championships in Germany.

Oxford was selected in the Young Lions squad in May but a knock kept him out of two friendly matches against Mexico.

On the last day of May he tweeted “Gutted to not be able to travel with the England squad due to injury but I’ll be back fit and ready for the season ahead”.   He has since returned from a holiday in Cyprus and is raring to go for his club and country again.

England face France on 12th July in Group B in the tournament in the Arena Heidenheim, Heidenheim followed by the Netherlands on the 15th July at the Donaustadion, Ulm. Their final Group B game is against the young Croatian team on Monday 18th July at Arena Heidenheim again.

The first and second placed sides from Group A and B will progress to the semi-finals on Thursday 21st July before the final on Sunday 24th July at Arena Sinsheim, Sinsheim.

Let’s hope Reece and the boys can do better than the English senior team did at the Euros.
