Reece Oxford has agreed to join Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season according to Matt Law in the Daily Telegraph.

The 17-year-old made his Premier League debut in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal on the opening day of the season aged 16.

That appearance made Oxford, who only lost possession once in the match, the second-youngest starter in Premier League history behind Jose Baxter.

But since then his first-team opportunities have been limited so it is claimed Oxford has decided to move to Charlton for six months to gather more first team experience.

The youngster has played for England at Under-16 and U17 level, and has attracted the interest of  a host of top clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Last week Peterborough owner and chairman, Darragh MacAnthony claimed he turned down the chance to sign Reece Oxford on loan. MacAnthony told Adrian Durham on Talksport “He is probably going to the Championship but he was offered to us first.”
