Winston Reid played 90 minutes at Burnley today aided by painkillers and neck wadding.

The central defender has been struggling with a stiff and painful neck for a few days but was determined to play through the game despite the aerial attentions of Clarets striker and international team-mate Chris Wood.

The frontman finally snatched a point for the home side with a fine downward header from Gudmonssen’s cross but little blame can be attached to Reid’a pain in the neck though the equaliser was.

We were told: “Reidy was in a lot of pain but we put some heavy wadding on his neck and he had painkillers. In the end came through very well.”
